Citing data from the New York State Department of Education, NewYorkUpstate has released its latest report of the municipalities that feature the fasting growing K-12 enrollment numbers for the years of 2012 and 2017. Only school districts from upstate were - north of Westchester and Rockland counties - for the report.
According to the report, “the 50 fastest-growing districts range from small areas that have only added a few dozen students to large urban districts that have added hundreds, but they are ranked according to the percentage by which the student body has increased in the past five years. Districts are ranked from 50 to 1, with 1 being the fastest-growing district in Upstate New York.
Among the Hudson Valley municipalities that made the list include:
Middletown City School District (29th overall):- Student enrollment in 2017: 7,195;
- 5-year enrollment change: +182;
- 5-year percentage change: +2.595 percent.
Chester Union Free School District (28th):
- Student enrollment in 2017: 1,051;
- 5-year enrollment change: +29;
- 5-year percentage change: +2.838 percent.
